What does the coalition do?

The Warren County Prevention & Intervention Coalition works to prevent substance misuse, promote mental health, and connect the community with resources such as Narcan training, overdose prevention workshops, and support services.

How can I get Narcan or overdose prevention training?

We provide free Narcan distribution and training throughout Warren County. You can request a training through our Contact Form or attend one of our upcoming Events .

Are these resources only for people struggling with addiction?

No. Our programs and resources are designed for the whole community, including parents, educators, employers, and anyone who wants to support prevention and recovery.

How can schools get involved?

We offer prevention trainings, classroom resources, and support for teachers and counselors. Schools can reach out to us to schedule a workshop or partner event.

Can I share my recovery story with the coalition?

Yes! We encourage community members to share their recovery journeys. Stories can be submitted here and may be shared anonymously if preferred.

How is the coalition funded?

Talk early, talk often. Open conversations about alcohol, vaping, marijuana, and prescription medication build trust before peer pressure arrives.
Know the warning signs. Sudden mood changes, new friend groups, unexplained money use, or missing medication can all be early indicators.
Lock it up, dispose it safely. Most teens who misuse prescription medication get it from a home medicine cabinet. Locking medications and dropping unused pills at a Drug Take Back event takes 5 minutes and saves lives.
Carry Narcan, just in case. Free naloxone is available in Warren County through our Caring Library locations — no prescription needed. Having it at home is like having a fire extinguisher: you hope you never need it.

Most teens in Warren County aren’t using drugs. But fentanyl, vaping, and pressure to drink are real — and you deserve straight answers, not scare tactics. Here’s what actually helps.

Fentanyl is in pills you’d never expect. Anything not from a pharmacy — pressed pills sold as Xanax, Percocet, or Adderall — could contain a lethal amount of fentanyl. One pill can kill.
Vaping isn’t “water vapor.” Most vapes contain nicotine, and some THC products have tested positive for fentanyl. It’s the most addictive thing most teens will ever encounter — and it changes the developing brain.
You can save a life. Carrying Narcan doesn’t make you a “bad kid.” It makes you the friend who could keep someone alive long enough to get real help. It’s free in Warren County.
Asking for help is not weakness. If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or anything you’re using to cope, talking to a trusted adult, school counselor, or texting 988 (free, 24/7, confidential) is one of the strongest moves you can make.
Helping a friend. If a friend is using, don’t lecture — listen. Then loop in an adult who can actually help. You don’t have to fix it alone.

Educators: A prevention partner for Warren County schools.

From elementary classrooms to high school health classes, your students are our community’s future. The Warren County Prevention and Intervention Coalition partners directly with schools to bring evidence-based prevention, Narcan training, and student support — at no cost.

Free Narcan training for school staff. Brief, in-service-friendly trainings teach any staff member how to recognize an overdose and respond — plus how to stock naloxone on campus.
Classroom prevention resources. Curriculum materials and guest speakers are available on vaping, fentanyl awareness, mental health, and refusal skills.
Early warning signs and referrals. Coalition staff can help connect a struggling student or family to local treatment, counseling, or recovery supports.
Family engagement. We can co-host parent nights, distribute take-home Narcan, and provide bilingual prevention materials for your school community.
Drug Take Back & medication lock bags. We supply free medication lock bags and partner with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office on local Drug Take Back events that families can use year-round.

Health Providers: Local partners in screening, referral, and overdose prevention.

Warren County primary care providers, dentists, behavioral health clinicians, EMS, and ER staff are on the front lines of substance use and overdose prevention. The coalition exists to make your work easier — with no-cost Narcan, warm-handoff connections to local recovery resources, and stigma-reducing patient education materials.

Free Narcan for your practice and patients. Tennessee’s standing-order naloxone makes it easy. We can supply your office or refer patients directly to a local Caring Library box.
Warm-handoff connections. When a patient screens positive for substance use, we can help connect them — typically within 24 hours — to local treatment, recovery housing, peer support, and case management.
SBIRT-ready resources. Patient handouts, referral cards, and family-support materials are available at no cost and ready for your exam rooms.
Reducing stigma. Free training on person-first language and trauma-informed care for clinical and front-desk staff.
Continuing education partnerships. We co-host community events on opioid prescribing, fentanyl trends, and recovery-supportive care.

Older Adults: Safe medications. Strong community. Local support.

Warren County’s older adults face unique risks — interactions between prescription medications, accidental misuse, isolation, and being targeted for medication theft. The coalition helps older adults and caregivers stay safe at home and connected to care.

Safe medication storage. Free lock bags and medication-safety kits protect both you and any visiting grandchildren or caregivers.
Safe disposal made easy. Bring unused or expired prescriptions to a local Drug Take Back event (held with the Sheriff’s Office) or a year-round drop box. Never flush medications.
Know the alcohol + Rx risk. Even one drink can be dangerous when combined with common prescriptions for sleep, pain, blood pressure, or anxiety. We can help you raise it with your doctor.
Free Narcan for caregivers. If you or a loved one takes opioid pain medication, having Narcan in the home is a safety net — no prescription needed, no judgment.
Connection beats isolation. Coalition events, faith-based partners, and community groups offer free, welcoming places to gather. Caregiver burnout is real — we have resources for you, too.
